French red wines

The acronym DOC is a brand of Italian origin and stands for "Appellation of Origin", which aims to provide consumers the assurance that the product they are consuming has followed in its production process a set of rules on quality and controls that make it a unique product.
 
Thank to that, the DOC and DOCG wines represent the best for the Italian wines importers worldwide.

The words DOCG (Controlled and Guaranteed Denomination of Origin) indicates an evolution of DOC wines: these wines have been at least five years in the category of DOC wines and after that, they met more and more stringent quality criteria.

In short, we can say that the DOCG wines represent the high point of Italian wines, and this is confirmed mentioning a few, which are among the most famous and appreciated wines in the world  like Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, Barbera d'Asti, Chianti, Morellino di Scansano, Recioto.
 
Of course, even among DOC wines we can find important quality wines from Italy , both red and white, such as Lambrusco di Sorbara, Pignoletto, Colli Bolognesi, Lugana, Oltrepò Pavese, Dolcetto d'Alba, Malvasia.

The DOC and DOCG wines can also be called DOP, in compliance with a 2009 law, but the two terms "classic" DOC and DOCG were maintained in the common sense and they follow to be notorious to the importers of Italian wine all over the world, still remaining the guarantee of wine quality, which is the result of years of wine culture of the individual Italian regions.
